Chart of the Day: Financial services the biggest in corporate sector

Almost 60% of shareholders' equity was from the financial services sector.

The Singapore Department of Statistics reported:

As at end 2010, nearly three fifths of the shareholders’ equity in the corporate sector was contributed by the financial services sector (58.9 per cent or $829 billion). The manufacturing sector was the second largest sector with 10.4 per cent (or $146 billion). The other sectors with significant shareholders’ equity were wholesale & retail trade ($117 billion or 8.3 per cent) and real estate activities ($115 billion or 8.1 per cent).
