SPH to launch franchise trade show in Ho Chi Minh City

Offering international franchise and business oportunities.

Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) announced that its subsidiary, BizLink Exhibition Services,
is organizing the International Franchise & Business Opportunities (IFBO) trade show in Vietnam's largest city, Ho Chi Minh.

The company said the trade show is "stepping in with perfect timing in line with the influx of foreign brands into Vietnam."

The inaugural event will take place from 28 – 30 May 2014 at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Binh Exhibition & Convention Centre.

"IFBO will create a pure business-to-business platform dedicated to enable international brands, franchisors, and companies to meet investors, potential franchisees, and entrepreneurs from Vietnam and other ASEAN countries," said SPH.

"With the expanding consumerism culture among Vietnam’s estimated 9 million burgeoning population, a growing disposable income, an emerging middle class, and a youthful population keen to experiment with food and lifestyle choices, the franchising model is a good fit," it added.

SPH added that franchising is a good opportunity for foreign businesses to set up a retail system in Vietnam as the country has many retail opportunities, including a food and beverage retail sector valued estimated at $33.7 billion (2010, latest available data).

"Franchising allows foreign businesses to save time, lower the investment costs, and avoid legal risks," said SPH.

Mr Chua Wee Phong, Executive Director of BizLink Exhibition Services, said: “The launch of IFBO Vietnam 2014 aims to tap on this dynamic growth, creating opportunities for even more international brands to gain a foothold, to showcase and introduce opportunities in Vietnam. At the same time, IFBO Vietnam 2014 aims to provide a facilitative environment for Vietnamese franchise players to network and forge business partnerships with these international players. With BizLink’s experience, knowledge and proven track record, we are confident that we are able to connect international brands with the dynamic Vietnam industry.”

In Singapore, BizLink Exhibition Services organises Franchising & Licensing Asia (FLAsia), bringing together some 250 international brands and 10,000 potential investors annually.

Mr Chua added: “We are proud to add IFBO – Vietnam to our other established trade exhibitions and we are firmly focused on delivering positive business outcomes for all participants.”

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
