Temasek's Tan Chong Meng named presidential advisory council chairman

Piyush Gupta and Gan Seow Kee elevated as Chua Sock Koong returns to council.

Singapore has unveiled new members of the Council of Presidential Advisers, with Tan Chong Meng as the new chairman.

Tan, who is chairman of National University Health System (NUHS) and deputy chairman of Temasek Holdings, was previously appointed as a member of the council in June 2024. His term lasts until June 2030

Singtel’s former CEO Chua Sock Koong has been reappointed to the council, on the advice of the Prime Minister. She was previously appointed as a member beginning June 2020.

Gan Seow Kee, chairman of the Singapore LNG Corporation, and Piyush Gupta, former CEO of DBS Bank, are now full members of the council. They both previously served as alternate members.

Tan Ching Yee has been named an alternate member of the council. She is currently chairman of the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and is the former permanent secretary of the Ministry of Finance. She is also a non-executive and independent director for OCBC Bank.

Chairman Tan Chong Meng takes over from Eddie Teo. Teo and former council member Lim Chee Onn’s terms ended on 1 June 2026.

Bahren Shaari, Chua Sock Koong, Peter Seah Lim Huat, Mildred Tan-Sim Beng Mei, and Chao Hick Tin remain members of the council.
