EMA to study manpower in energy market

The Energy Market Authority and the Workforce Development Agency will study the "energy manpower landscape" in Singapore.

This comes as Singapore evolves to a "smart energy" hub that requires more high-tech and sustainable energy processes.

Workers in the energy market - from the oil and gas, petrochemical, power plants and clean energy sectors - will have their skills assessed and upgraded. There are more than 1,300 workers in the energy-related field.

The study will help EMA understand what is needed to develop stronger professionalism, clearer career pathways and more relevant training. According to EMA, "Findings from this landscape review will help EMA and WDA make an informed assessment on the required manpower capacity and competencies to support the needs of an energy sector that is growing both in size and complexity".
