Keppel, JTC sign MoU to develop low-carbon energy systems

The agreement covers infrastructure projects on Jurong Island.

Keppel Infrastructure and JTC Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to study and implement low-carbon energy infrastructure on Jurong Island.

The partnership will examine district-level energy systems, shared thermal networks, waste-heat utilisation, and energy storage options. Pilot projects and proof-of-value studies will be conducted to assess commercial viability.

The MoU was signed during JTC’s 25th anniversary event, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong. Jurong Island has been identified as a key site for testing new energy technologies.

Keppel and JTC will evaluate renewable and alternative energy sources including solar, hydrogen, biofuels, and fuel cells. Deployment will be through microgrids and virtual power plants to support industrial operations on the island.
