Singapore launches $90m research programme for hydrogen use, sustainable chemicals

The programme will be hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS).

The National Research Foundation (NRF) will be investing $90 million into a new research programme that aims to boost Singapore’s decarbonisation efforts, including building its capacity in hydrogen utilisation.

Dubbed CREATE Thematic Programme in Decarbonisation, its focus areas include carbon conversion and utilisation, using carbon dioxide and non-fossil fuel-based feedstocks to produce commodity chemicals like biofuels and specialty chemicals.

It is also expected to contribute to building the city-state’s hydrogen utlisation as well as develop new research on the combustion behaviors of zero-carbon fuel blends.

The National University of Singapore (NUS) will be hosting the programme, in collaboration with partners of CREATE.
