F&B startup Mobikon raises $11.28m in Series B funding

It seeks to be a data exchange platform following quarter-long trials.

Food & beverage (F&B) software startup Mobikon has raised $11.28m (US$12.5m) in a Series B funding courtesy of Indian internet entrepreneur Binny Bansal, according to a press release.

The company is now looking to transform into a data exchange platform which it has been testing for over a quarter, the report said.

Indian F&B brands such as Lite Bite Foods, Gajalee, and Yellow Banana, international brands like Bistro, Gerry’s Grill, and Swensens, banks, fintech organisations, point-of-sale (POS) providers, and beverage brands are working with Mobikon in this platform.

Mobikon founder and CEO Samir Khadepaun said that the company will utilise the capital to expand to Australia and Indonesia and invest in data science team and integration framework. In addition, they will also accelerate the value creation of restaurants besides discounting by using data insights and open API platforms.

The company has tapped entrepreneur Apoorva Ruparel as co-founder and elevated Amit Divekar as co-founder and chief technology officer.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
