
BUDGET 2025: $1B investment for hawker centres over next 30 years
Hawker vendors to receive one-time $600 rental support.
The government will invest $1b over the next 20 to 30 years to upgrade aging hawker centres and construct new ones, Finance Minister Lawrence Wong announced in his Budget speech on Tuesday, 18 February.
Hawker stalls and market vendors managed by government and government-appointed operators will also receive a one-time rental support of $600.
Meanhwile, the SG Culture Pass will also be introduced, giving all Singaporeans aged 18 and above $100 worth of credits to use for arts and heritage activities from September 2025 to the end of 2028.
Additionally, the government will provide $100 in SG60 ActiveSG credits to all active members for sports activities with family and friends.
The Cultural Matching Fund will be topped up with $100m and extended until FY 2029, with a further $270m allocated to enhance the fundraising programme.
