Hari Raya sees 60% more international travel bookings in 2025
Guangzhou, Osaka, and Chongqing made their debut in the top 10 most popular destinations list.
International travel bookings by Singaporeans for the Hari Raya Puasa season (March 29 to April 6, 2025) have surged by more than 60% compared to last year.
According to Trip.com, the uptick in travel reflects a growing preference for destinations that offer unique experiences, with cities like Guangzhou, Osaka, and Chongqing making their debut in the top 10 most popular destinations list for the first time this year.
The trend is also seen in increased bookings to Chengdu, Busan, and Shenzhen, with demand for these secondary cities more than doubling from the previous year.
Whilst familiar short-haul destinations like Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur continue to top the list, the interest in further-flung locations has grown.
Bookings for destinations such as Spain, France, Italy, and Canada have more than tripled, and some travellers have even ventured as far as Lima, Peru — the farthest destination booked by a Singaporean during this Hari Raya season.
In addition to the rising interest in diverse locations, Singaporeans are also taking longer trips. The average trip duration has increased to 9.19 days in 2025, up from 8.38 days the previous year. With a 5.9% increase in spending on international flights and accommodations, Singaporean travellers are willing to invest more for extended holidays.
Theme park destinations are a particular favourite this year, with attractions like Universal Studios Japan, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disney Resort amongst the most popular bookings.
