Visitor spending predicted to increase by 5%

On back of 17m tourist arrival forecast.

According to CIMB, with higher yield-driven quality growth, it predicts tourism receipts to increase by about 5% per annum (in line with STB’s forecast of 4-6%) over the next couple of years to 2016.

Here's more:

Back in 2005, STB forecast visitor arrivals of 17m per year by 2015. With 2013 drawing around 13.5m visitors, coupled with more attractions and events to support further growth in tourism, we remain confident that the visitor arrival numbers could rack up 4.7% CAGR over the next two years to attain the forecast of 17m by 2015.

In addition, as the Singapore government continues to promote tourism growth, STB offers different types of schemes such as Tourism Product Development Fund, Leisure Events Fund, Cruise Development Fund etc., to promote the creation of new tourism products and experiences.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
