Eight in 10 SG firms lose IT professionals due to burnout
Leaders are taking action by turning to artificial intelligence (AI).
Eight in 10 (82%) Singaporean companies reported losing tech professionals due to burnout, compared to the global average of 66% according to a Splunk report.
About 31% of respondents also said the number of false positives was the main problem whilst the amount of noise contributes to costly downtime and fatigue.
However, leaders are taking action by turning to artificial intelligence (AI). Sixty five percent are using artificial intelligence for IT operations to automate incident resolution which reduces burnout and retains talent.
Additionally, 97% use AI and machine learning (ML)-powered systems to enhance observability operations whilst 85% remediate half of alerts due to recommendations from AI/ML-powered tools.
The report also outlined a maturity framework that consists of four stages of observability: foundational visibility, guided insights, proactive response, and unified workflows.
Based on this, respondents were grouped into four stages of maturity, namely ‘beginning’ (45%), ‘emerging’ (27%), ‘evolving’ (17%), and ‘leaders’ (11%).
By adopting a leading observability practice, 68% of leading organisations say they are aware of application problems 2.8 times faster than the rate of beginning organisations.
The report added that leading organisations estimate that 80% of alerts are legitimate compared to 54% from beginner organisations. These differences in accuracy and response time are significant as customer expectations for a secure digital experience are at an all-time high.
Moreover, as speed gives an edge in software development velocity, 76% of leaders deploy the majority of their application code on demand, compared to 30% of beginners.
Leaders alsospend 38% more of their time on innovation than beginners, which means less time on toilsome work such as troubleshooting and triaging incidents.
