Job postings fall 4.5% to five-year low in February

Demand remains high in ‘pharmacy’ and 'sports'.

Job postings declined 4.5% in February, following three consecutive monthly increases, and stood 12% below last year’s levels.

The drop pushed postings to their lowest point since March 2021, though they remained 32% above pre-pandemic levels, according to an Indeed report.

Postings in 92% of occupations are above their pre-pandemic baseline from 1 February 2020, with 8% more than double pre-pandemic levels.

Demand was highest in pharmacy (+149%), sports (+124%), hospitality & tourism (+121%), and real estate (+104%).

Meanwhile, postings remained below pre-pandemic levels in childcare (-60%), beauty & wellness (-29%), driving (-22%), and media & communications (-3.4%).

Opportunities with remote or work-from-home options accounted for 8.6% of postings in February, up from 8.4% a year ago and recovering from a post-pandemic low of 6.9% in late 2022.

Remote roles were most common in IT systems & solutions (15.6%), followed by sales (15.5%), and media & communications (14.0%).

Overall labour market remains tight, with Singapore’s unemployment rate at 2% at the end of 2025.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
