Singapore leads APAC in hybrid work access: report

Around 79% of employees say a company’s sustainability and CSR efforts influence their job decisions.

Singapore ranks highest in Asia-Pacific for access to hybrid work and stands amongst the top countries where employees actively consider sustainability when choosing employers, according to Reeracoen and Rakuten Insight Global.

The study, based on insights from over 12,000 professionals across 12 Asia-Pacific economies, reveals that 68% of Singaporean workers now have access to hybrid work models—the highest rate in the region, and more than 20 percentage points above the APAC average of 46%.

This underscores Singapore’s leadership in workplace flexibility at a time when 72% of workers across the region say they prefer hybrid setups.

Singaporean employees are also increasingly driven by values-led employment. Around 79% say a company’s sustainability and CSR efforts influence their job decisions, placing the country among the top three ESG-conscious markets in the region, alongside Vietnam (82%).

When it comes to career motivation, Singapore’s top drivers include salary (82%), skills development (67%), and work-life balance (61%).

Whilst the broader APAC region shows growing demand for upskilling, only 18% of professionals feel their current employers are leading on that front.

The report also revealed that Singaporean professionals are comparatively less eager to relocate overseas. Only 43% expressed openness to overseas relocation, compared to 62% in Vietnam.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
