Is AI a friend or a foe to Singaporeans?

Four in 10 fear AI will replace their job in the next five years.

More than half of Singaporeans (64%) believe that AI  offers more benefits than downsides, an Ipsos survey revealed. In Europe and North America, only 37% believe so.

According to 41% of Singaporeans, one of the downsides of AI is that it may replace their current job in the next five years.

Only 54% of Singaporeans also believe that companies using AI will protect their personal information.

Singaporeans' trust level towards AI is still higher than those in Japan, US and France, where only 32% trusted AI companies to protect their data.

The survey was not without optimism for the future of AI, with 65% of Singaporeans expressing excitement for products and services that use it.

With AI seeing rapid growth in popularity, two-thirds of Singaporeans claim to have a good understanding of what AI is, whilst 57% say they are aware of the AI products and services available to them.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
