Digital Edge commits $5.68b to build 500MW data centre in Indonesia

Bekasi hyperscale campus scales to 1GW with first phase due 2026

Singapore-based company, Digital Edge, said it will invest $5.68b (US$4.5b) to develop the CGK Campus, a 500MW AI-ready hyperscale data centre in the GIIC Industrial Estate in Bekasi, according to a press release.

The campus will deliver 500MW of IT capacity at full build-out, with scalability to 1GW, as Digital Edge targets demand from cloud and artificial intelligence workloads in Indonesia’s expanding digital economy, the company said.

Design specifications place operational efficiency at the core of the project. The campus targets an annualised power usage effectiveness of 1.25 and will incorporate direct-to-chip liquid cooling, recycled water systems, and renewable energy integration, operating as a carrier-neutral facility, according to the company.

The site sits less than 15 kilometres from major data centre clusters and about 40 kilometres from Digital Edge’s EDGE1 and EDGE2 facilities, enabling low-latency access to Jakarta’s business districts.

Construction will proceed in phases, with the first of three initial buildings scheduled to enter service in Q4 2026, followed by additional buildings in Q1 2027 and Q2 2027, the company said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
