Legacy systems, compliance risks slow AI network readiness in SG

Partners expect the most growth in areas such as AI-powered observability and diagnostics (48%).

Singapore’s IT channel partners say the biggest hurdles to building AI-ready networks are integration with legacy systems, security and compliance risks, talent shortages, and confusion over the right technologies to adopt.

A survey by Westcon-Comstor found that only 28% of Singapore partners consider their customers’ networks fully ready for AI workloads, below the global average of 33%.

Just 18% currently offer advanced, AI-integrated networking services, the lowest among the five markets surveyed, which are Singapore, the UK, Spain, the UAE, and Australia.

Whilst adoption of newer paradigms such as zero-trust architecture (39%) and intent-based networking (31%) remains limited, a capability build-out is underway.

According to the findings, 61% of partners are actively developing AI capabilities, and another 20% are exploring AI whilst still focusing on traditional network services.

Over the next 12 to 18 months, partners expect the most growth in areas such as AI-powered observability and diagnostics (48%), edge-to-cloud routing and optimisation (46%), AI-enhanced security analytics (45%), and Network-as-a-Service (34%).

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
