Palo Alto Networks launches identity security platform Idira
The platform extends dynamic privilege controls across human, machine, and AI agent identities.
Palo Alto Networks has launched Idira, a next-generation identity security platform built to help enterprises discover, control, and govern identities across AI-driven environments.
The platform is designed to secure human, machine, and agentic identities as the adoption of AI expands autonomous access to sensitive data and systems.
Palo Alto Networks said traditional identity tools were built for environments where elevated access was limited to select users.
However, it noted that machine and AI identities now outnumber humans 109 to 1, whilst 61% of privileged access requests are still fulfilled with standing privilege rather than on-demand access.
The firm said Idira aims to address these risks by applying zero standing privilege and just-in-time enforcement across all identities.
The platform focuses on three core functions: discovering identity risk, controlling every privilege, and automating governance through AI-powered policies.
For existing CyberArk SaaS customers, Idira will provide upgrades depending on their current products, including discovery improvements, user experience enhancements, zero standing privilege capabilities, and options to add agentic and machine identity protections.
