Saturday in Design returns to Singapore

Showrooms exhibiting various architecture and designs will be open on 6 October.

In a release, the highly anticipated Saturday in Design returns to Singapore on 6 October 2012. Singapore’s premium showrooms open their doors to the architecture and design community, and design lovers. Among the highlights are exciting competitions and the chance to meet special international guests. A series of fun-filled fringe events have also been planned leading up to 6 October.

Fringe Events

The fun doesn’t just start on Saturday itself. On the week before 6 October, a series of VIP events and activities catering to the architecture and design community will also take place.

3 October
67 Years of Innovative Design by Okamura
Okamura celebrates its 67th anniversary in a big way at the red dot design museum.

4 October
‘Bowling for Cancer’ by Stylecraft
16 teams from the architecture and design community will be bowling for the Children’s Cancer Foundation. Find out more at bowlingforcancer.com

Moooi 2012 Collection Launch at Space Asia Hub
Apart from the collection fresh from Milan, there will also be an “Inside the Box” photo booth concept by Marcel Wanders and photographer Erwin Olaf.

Oktoberfest by Xtra
At the alfresco party filled with beer, bratwurst and music, guests get a special preview of Xtra’s Saturday in Design showcase and the new Interface showroom.

How We Create: Palamont Event howwecreate.com/palamontevent
Product manufacturer Palamont and design website howwecreate.com will host a group of product designers to talk about the art of manufacturing.

International Guests

Joining in the festivities are design personalities who have specially flown in for the event.

Shashi Caan, President, International Federation of Interior Architecture/Designers (IFI): The globally recognised designer has won multiple awards with her experimental and innovative practice The Collective US/UK. Her efforts with the IFI have also significantly
contributed to the international interior architecture and design scene.

Michael Young, Founder, Michael Young Studio: The British-born, Hong Kong-based designer has built up an impressive portfolio. His
designs for reputable brands such as Magis, Established & Sons and Emeco have won awards and can be found in museum collections.

Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy, Founders, Dinosaur Design: The designers head one of Australia’s most successful design companies Dinosaur Designs. They are most known for their jewellery and resin home wares that cross boundaries of art,
fashion and design. The duo will be giving a talk at Space Asia Hub on the day of Saturday in Design.
