After net loss, will Top Glove be back in black?

It posted $51.6m net loss in the first quarter ending November 2022.

Glove manufacturer, Top Glove, posted a net loss of $51.6m (RM168m) in the first quarter that ended November 2022.

For 1QFY2023, the SGX-listed manufacturer recorded sales revenue of $194m (RM633m) and loss after tax of $48m (RM158m).

Whilst sales volume (Quantity Sold) eased about 48% year on year as it continued to be impacted by persistent headwinds.

The softer financial performance was on the back of the “ongoing glove supply/demand imbalance which saw customers holding off restocking activity as they continued to deplete existing glove inventory, coupled with a lack of urgency to place orders in light of excess production capacity within the glove industry.“

In a statement, the firm said they are optimistic that they can recover by next year.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
