Malaysian theme park developer Sim Leisure Group debuts on Catalist at $0.17 apiece

The firm has a market capitalisation of about $30m.

The Singapore Exchange (SGX) welcomed theme park developer and operator Sim Leisure Group to its Catalist board, an announcement revealed.

Sim Leisure Group opened at $0.17.

Based in Malaysia, Sim Leisure Group operates theme parks in Penang, Malaysia, namely the ESCAPE Adventureplay and ESCAPE Waterplay, as well as the upcoming ESCAPE Gravityplay which is expected to commence operations in 2019.

“In this region, the rise in spending power, tourism, as well as infrastructure investments could bode well for the theme and amusement park industry,” Mohamed Nasser Ismail, head of equity capital markets at SGX, said in a statement.

With a market capitalisation of about $30m, Sim Leisure Group’s listing brings the total number of companies listed on Catalist to 216, with a combined market capitalisation of about $10b.
