SGX welcomes Hong Kong brokerage firm to securities market

Futu Securities is a startup brokerage with Chinese investors.

Singapore Exchange (SGX) welcomed Hong Kong-based brokerage firm Futu Securities International to its securities market, an announcement revealed.

The Hong Kong firm is SGX’s securities 26th trader. The market also has 25 clearing members. In the derivatives market, there are 60 trading ,embers and 24 Clearing Members whilst OTC-traded financial derivatives has 11 clearing members.

“Futu Securities’ online trading platforms will open a pathway for its clients in Greater China to invest abroad, and we look forward to its clients participating in the Singapore securities market,” SGX head of equities and fixed income Chew Sutat said.

 Founded in 2012, the firm is an internet securities brokerage startup for Chinese individual investors that trade stocks across different markets. Its strategic shareholders include Tencent Holdings, Matrix Partners China and Sequoia Capital.
