This is the annual return over the past 30 years since 1981, said GIC Chairman Lee Kuan Yew.

He also indicated that the next 30 years is challenging as "investment outlook looks less benign."

According to Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam, Deputy Chairman & Executive Director of GIC, major structural Post-Crisis problems still remain.

He said: "The world will take time to work through the full consequences of the Global Financial Crisis as well as the large sums of debt that developed countries have taken on."
