Guess who are Singapore’s top foreign investors now?

The UK has slipped from first to fourth place since 2005, and you will never guess who is now the most invested in Singapore.

The Netherlands has come from the 5th largest investor to the number 1 investor in Singapore, from $32 billion in 2005 to $61 billion by 2009.

The top ten foreign investors in Singapore are:

1. Netherlands
2. United States
3. Japan
4. United Kingdom
5. British Virgin Islands
6. Cayman Islands
7. Bermuda
8. Switzerland
9. Norway
10. India

According to a report by the Department of Statistics, Dutch and British investment in Singapore were concentrated in manufacturing and financial & insurance services. Investment from Switzerland were mainly in financial & insurance services and wholesale & retail trade sectors.
