Here's why you should be investing in equities right now

Don't miss this golden opportunity.

An industry insider makes the case that equities are one of the best investments for Singaporeans -- or any investor for that matter -- to make right now.

“We believe there is a strong case for considering equities right now. Current valuations and market trends indicate that there’s continued upside opportunity for equity growth, in addition to the fact that diversification through equities has the ability to do what it has always done: provide a platform for long-term wealth creation," said Stephen Grundlingh, Franklin Templeton’s Co-CEO for Singapore and Regional Head of Southeast Asia.

"While now is a good time to increase exposure to equities, we would also advise investors to continue to maintain diversification in their portfolios with an allocation to fixed income funds, and systematically reallocate their bond investment profits into equities over the coming year. The health of the Eurozone is picking up, the U.S. corporate sector is in better shape now and equity markets are posting strong returns. In Asia, we see the urbanization story as key to the continued increasing demand for commodities over the long term," he added.

Mr. Grundlingh made the comment after it was revealed that 41% of Singaporeans are bullish about the ability of Asia to produce the best equity returns in 2014, with 48% also seeing it delivering the best returns over the next decade.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
