Market Update: STI down 1.11%

Singapore Airlines Limited saw the sharpest decline during Wednesday's trading, with a 3.15% drop.

The Straits Times Index ended 35.30 or 1.11% lower at 3,139.57 at the close of trading on Wednesday, June 16.

Only ThaiBev ended the day in the black, which grew 0.72%.

Included in the bottom performers were Ascendas REIT which fell 2.33% and Wilmar International which fell 2.33%.

According to local news, share performance affected local investors' confidence after new cases for COVID-19 blurred the hope that restrictions may be eased soon.

The FTSE 100 Index ended 12.47 or 0.17% higher at 7,184.95, whilst the NYSE Composite Index ended 113.05 or 0.68% lower at 16,542.76 at the close of trading on Tuesday.
