Market Update: STI ends flat at 2,825.63

The Straits Times Index closed flat on Tuesday trade, ending the day at 2,825.63, up by a mere 0.12 points.

Based on trading to a contract for difference (CFD) measures that track Singapore’s benchmark index, the STI declined by about 397 points or 12.32% for the year to date.

Top stock movers yesterday were Jardine Strategic Holdings, up by 4.35%, CapitaLand Integrated, which jumped by 2%, and Mapletree Commercial Trust, up by 1.46%.

Meanwhile, Wall Street recovered from Monday's slump. The Dow Jones Industrial was up by 0.35% or 104.09 points to 30,173.88.

The NASDAQ Composite index also ended in green, up by 62.83 points or 0.50% to 12,582.77, while S&P 500 climbed to the 3,702.25 level, gaining 10.29 points or 0.28%

The London's blue-chip index made a positive reaction after the United Kingdom officially started vaccinating its population against COVID-19 virus using the vaccine developed by Pfizer Inc. and Germany's BioNTech. FTSE 100 closed up by 3.34% at 6,558.82

FTSE 250 on the contrary plunged at 19,870.49 down by 0.30%
