SBS Transit post 13% net profit drop to $61.2m in 2025

Revenue declined to $1.52b.

SBS Transit reported a 13% decline in net profit attributable to shareholders to $61.2m for the year ended 31 December 2025 (FY2025), according to its audited results.

Earnings per share fell to 19.59 cents from 22.52 cents a year earlier. Revenue decreased 2.7% to $1.52b for FY2025.

Operating profit declined 6.9% to $68.1m, whilst EBITDA fell 6.0% to $150.6m. Operating costs decreased 2.5% to $1.45b, mainly due to lower fuel and electricity costs, partially offset by higher rail licence charges and staff costs.

Revenue from the Public Transport Services segment decreased 3.0% to $1.45b following lower bus revenue after the loss of the Jurong West bus package from September 2024.

Higher rail revenue, driven mainly by increased fares and ridership, partially offset the decline. Segment operating profit fell 16.0% to $45.1m.

Revenue from Other Commercial Services rose 5.1% to $62.8m, whilst operating profit increased 18.4% to $23.0m.

The board proposed a final dividend of 8.66 cents per share and a special dividend of 31.99 cents per share, bringing total dividends for 2025 to 49.60 cents per share.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
