FairPrice locks prices of over 500 essentials until end-August

The expanded price freeze covers groceries and daily necessities to help households manage rising costs.

FairPrice Group will lock prices on more than 500 daily essentials from 1 June to 31 August 2026.

The expanded basket includes FairPrice housebrand rice, cooking oil, eggs, vegetables, fresh and frozen meat, milk, as well as senior and baby care products.

Group CEO Vipul Chawla said the April price freeze helped protect household budgets, adding that the expanded programme reflects a more sustained effort to keep daily necessities affordable.

NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng said the measure will help workers and families better plan their expenses as the cost of living remains a concern.

The latest price freeze builds on other support measures rolled out by FairPrice Group this year.

These include doubling weekly discounts from 3% to 6% for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders in April, offering up to 36% off housebrand essentials through the BestSellers for Less campaign, and distributing $6 and $8 FairPrice Return Vouchers alongside the government’s CDC voucher rollout.

FairPrice Group also implemented earlier price freezes on popular seafood, vegetables, and chilled pork from 29 January to 3 March, and distributed 80,000 Buka Puasa refreshment sets and over $60,000 worth of festive care packs to beneficiaries.

The group said it will roll out more tailored support initiatives in the coming months for seniors and vulnerable communities.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
