OCBC enables direct transfers with 8 new e-wallet partners

Customers in Singapore can now directly transfer money to 10 e-wallets.

OCBC has added eight new digital wallets in its app, enabling customers in Singapore to directly transfer money to the selected e-wallets.

Customers can make near-instant, fee-free transfers to Coins (Philippines), GCash (Philippines), GoPay (Indonesia), LinkAja (Indonesia), Momo (Vietnam), Ovo (Indonesia), PayMaya (Philippines), and Touch ‘n Go (Malaysia).

OCBC expects significant adoption amongst Singapore’s 1.6 million-strong foreign workforce. These wallets, in addition to two earlier wallets onboarded in the OCBC platform, collectively represent up to 2.72 billion users, OCBC said in a press release.

Since launching the service with Chinese wallets a year ago, OCBC has processed over S$60m in transfers, driving a fourfold increase in cross-border transfers to China.

Visa Direct powers the OCBC app’s pay-to-wallet capabilities, providing access to nearly 11 billion endpoints, including 3.5 billion accounts, 4 billion cards, and 3.5 billion digital wallets, the press release said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
