Duxton Hill Chambers expands cross-border reach with London launch
Its members will handle litigation and international arbitration work within and from the UK.
Duxton Hill Chambers is launching Duxton Hill Chambers London, becoming the first Singapore-origin group practice to establish a presence at the English Bar.
Duxton Hill Chambers London will operate as a full barristers’ chambers. Its members will handle litigation and international arbitration work within and from the UK, expanding the group’s cross-border reach.
The London chambers will be led by three King’s Counsel (KC): Toby Landau KC, Jern-Fei Ng KC, and Matthew Gearing KC.
Landau, who works across London and Singapore, has built a high-profile arbitration and appellate practice over three decades.
He is a vice-president of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) Court of Arbitration, sits as a Bencher of Middle Temple, and was the first Queen’s Counsel to be admitted to the Singapore Bar.
Ng practises in London, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore and appears regularly before courts, including those in Singapore, Malaysia, England, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, and the Cayman Islands.
He also serves as a deputy High Court judge in Hong Kong and sits on the board of Maxwell Chambers in Singapore.
Gearing, formerly the global co-head of international arbitration at Allen & Overy, is a vice president of the London Court of International Arbitration.
His practice centres on commercial arbitration and public international law, with a focus on energy and infrastructure disputes. He is also admitted in Hong Kong and in Western Australia.
All three KCs are also arbitrator members of Temple Chambers in Hong Kong.
They will be joined by Duxton Hill members in Singapore as Associated Members of the London set.
These include former Singapore attorney-general and judge of appeal V K Rajah SC; Chan Leng Sun SC, a former global arbitration head at Baker McKenzie and president of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators; and Quentin Loh SC, a former Supreme Court judge.
Other members include arbitration and disputes specialist Calvin Liang and Tham Lijing, both of whom oversee the management of Duxton Hill Chambers.
