Facebook launches Marketplace feature in Singapore

Users will be allowed to cross post products in buy and sell groups using their Facebook accounts.

Singapore now has access to Facebook's Marketplace feature, joining 47 countries where the app is available.

According to a press release, Marketplace is a single place on Facebook for discovering, buying, and selling goods locally.

Through the app, users can post products for sale directly or cross post from a buy and sell group.

Whilst searching for a product, a built-in location tool can be used to adjust the region they’re looking in, or switch to a different city altogether.

Users can send the seller a direct message if they're interested to make an offer for the product.

However, Facebook does not facilitate the payment or delivery of items in Marketplace.

Facebook director of product management Karandeep Anand said, "People can feel good about buying and selling on Marketplace because it’s easy to view the public profiles of buyers and sellers, your mutual friends, and how long they’ve been on Facebook.”

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
