Shopee launches live streaming feature

It wants to allow viewers to directly engage with sellers.

Shopee is launching its first ever live streaming feature Shopee LIVE, an announcement revealed. Shopee LIVE is designed for viewers to be able to directly engage with sellers, learn about products, and ask questions in real-time. With this feature, customers can also purchase items online without having to leave the live stream.

With data showing that 89% of Singaporeans consume video content on their mobile phones today, Shopee LIVE is designed to cater to Singaporeans’ growing demands for online video content.

Zhou Junjie, chief commercial officer, Shopee, said, “Singaporeans are looking for more than just a transactional shopping experience, they are demanding more entertainment and engagement.”

The other feature “Shopee Quiz” aims to engage shopee users into an interactive live trivia game. Hosted by local influencers, the game goes live at 9 p.m. daily. Participants can win from the Shopee Coins prize pool and selected items from participating brands by answering the questions correctly on different topics like history and pop culture.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
