LTA to activate CCTV cameras at 10 locations to deter illegal parking

Here are the target locations.

From 14 April 2014, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will activate Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at 10 locations to enforce against illegal parking. LTA had earlier identified 30 locations to implement CCTV cameras to enforce against illegal parking and improve traffic conditions. LTA will progressively install CCTV cameras at the remaining 20 locations, which are targeted to be operational by end-2014.

The expansion of the CCTV coverage follows the successful trial along Beach Road (in front of Golden Mile Complex), and at Marine Parade Central (in front of Parkway Parade Shopping Centre). The use of CCTVs has proven to be effective in deterring illegal parking, which has helped to improve traffic flow in the area.

The CCTVs will be operational 24 hours daily. Prominent signs will be put up in the monitoring zones to remind motorists against parking illegally. Please refer to Annex C for photos of the CCTV camera and signage. Motorists are encouraged to observe parking regulations to ensure safe and smooth traffic conditions.

LTA will continue to monitor the effectiveness of the CCTVs after implementation and review the need for expansion to other areas.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
