Aster greenlights $102.4m Bukom project to double ethylene export capacity
Works include the installation of a parallel ethylene chiller system.
Aster Chemicals & Energy has approved a $102.4m (US$80m) investment to expand ethylene export capacity at its Ethylene Cracker Complex in Singapore, with the project expected to be completed in 2027.
The group said contracts for engineering and construction works have been awarded to Toyo Engineering Corporation and UTOC Engineering Pte Ltd, amongst other partners.
The projects cover the installation of a parallel ethylene chiller system and the expansion of outbound ethylene export logistics at Bukom.
The infrastructure is expected to double Bukom's ethylene export capacity and deepen integration between its Singapore operations and the Chandra Asri cracker facility in Cilegon, Indonesia.
"Awarding these contracts moves us firmly into the delivery phase of our vision to build greater ethylene export capacity, stronger supply reliability, and deeper integration across our value chain," said Mashhad Dohadwala, Aster's Director for Projects & Technology.
"As demand for ethylene grows in Asia, Singapore's ability to serve as a dependable, high-capacity export origin matters," he added.
