NBN take up terrible

90 % of Singapore covered but guess how few have subscribed ?

Nomura in a research note estimated that on NBN take-up and installation, the subscriber numbers remain low
at around 150k even though the rollout is almost 80-90% nationwide now.

According to Nomura analyst Sachin Gupta, the issue is cabling within the building and customer premises (from the base of the MDF (main distribution frame) room up the riser to the terminating point inside a commercial unit).

Gupta said that during investor meetings at  Singapore NAEF conference, StarHub noted that it may look at the possibilities of using OpenNet's fibre and doing the cabling themselves (from the MDF to the terminating point).

However, this is not finalised yet and it will have to assess costs/ benefits, he added.
