Changi Airport's passenger movements grew 5% in October

Japan and Vietnam recorded the most passenger traffic.

Changi Airport’s passenger movements in October rose 5% to 5.65 million from September’s 5.47 million, according to the company’s report.

Aircraft movements on the other hand, fell 2.4% to 32,000 landings and take-offs, whilst airfreight throughput declined 10.6% to 170,000 tonnes for the month.

For the third consecutive month, Japan led Changi’s passenger traffic, with a new country, Vietnam sharing the top spot. Both recorded a 10% rise.

Passenger traffic growth demonstrated for all regions in October, where the fastest growing routes for the month included Brisbane, Shanghai and Taipei, all showing a double-digit increase.

As at 1 November 2019, more than 100 airlines operate at Changi Airport, connecting Singapore to some 380 cities in about 100 countries and territories worldwide. With more than 7,400 weekly scheduled flights, an aircraft takes off or lands at Changi roughly once every 80 seconds.
