Passenger traffic at Changi Airport inched up 1.9% in October

Thanks to a boost from South Asia.

Changi Airport today reported a 1.9% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic in October, with a total of 4.49 million passengers passing through the airport last month.

The growth was driven by a 14% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic to and from South Asia, with India traffic increasing 17% year-on-year last month.

Traffic to Thailand inched up 1% last month, finally ending eleven straight months of decline. Passenger movements between Singapore and China also rose an encouraging 5%, while demand was also strong on services to and from Hong Kong (+7%) and Vietnam (+10%).

There was a 2.1% increase in airfreight movements, with 159,700 tonnes of cargo handled in October. Aircraft landings and takeoffs decreased by 3.7% to 28,380.

For the period of January to October 2014, 44.58 million passenger movements were registered at Changi Airport, 1% more than the corresponding period in 2013. Cargo shipments grew by 0.5% to 1.53 million tonnes while aircraft movements were stable at 283,650 for the same period.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
