SIA Engineering names new deputy chairman, backed by four decades of expertise

The former DBS executive joined board as independent director.

SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC) has appointed Lim Sim Seng as deputy chairman and non-executive independent director, effective 8 April.

The company said Lim has also been appointed as a member of its nominating committee, compensation and HR committee, and executive committee from the same date.

Lim has 42 years of banking experience across Asia, North America, and the Middle East. Prior to his retirement, he was group executive at DBS Group, where he led the consumer banking and private banking business.

Before joining DBS, he served as president and CEO of Nikko Citigroup Ltd and was a board member of Nikko Citi Holdings Inc in Japan. He also held senior leadership roles at Citigroup.

Lim currently serves as a non-executive and independent director at Raffles Medical Group Ltd, IOI Properties Group Berhad, and Trust Capital Group. He is also a senior advisor on the advisory board of Amundi Asset Management Asia whilst also serving as Singapore’s non-resident high commissioner to Nigeria.

Lim was previously a non-executive and independent director at Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd from 2015 to 2024 and chairman of ST Engineering Aerospace Ltd from 2015 to 2018.

He was inducted as an IBF Distinguished Fellow (Financial Markets) by the Institute of Banking and Finance in 2015 and received the Public Service Medal in 2018.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
