VICOM opens Penang testing facility to grow non-vehicle business

The new SETSCO QAV site offers Singapore and Malaysia’s only third-party commercial Over-the-Air testing capability.

VICOM has opened SETSCO QAV’s new facility in Penang, Malaysia, as it expands its high-value non-vehicle testing business and strengthens its presence in the region’s electronics and high-tech manufacturing sector.

SETSCO QAV is a joint venture between VICOM’s wholly owned subsidiary SETSCO Services and Malaysia-based QAV Technologies.

The new facility will support electronics and high-tech manufacturers with Electrical and Electronics testing services, faster turnaround times, and access to internationally recognised compliance and certification support.

Located in Penang’s key industrial hub, the facility offers a range of testing services across the product development lifecycle.

These include Electromagnetic Compatibility and Radio Frequency testing, Electrical Safety and Energy Efficiency testing, Over-the-Air antenna measurement, and Acoustic measurement.

VICOM said the facility also houses Singapore and Malaysia’s only third-party commercial Over-the-Air capability, providing manufacturers with testing support for devices with OTA receivers.

The expansion forms part of VICOM’s strategy to grow beyond its core vehicle inspection business and deepen its capabilities in higher-value testing segments.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
