SIAEC launches six-aircraft MRO facility in Subang, Malaysia

The site supports A350 and B787 heavy maintenance and retrofits.

SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) has unveiled Base Maintenance Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (BMM), its wholly-owned base maintenance facility at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang.

The BMM provides scheduled heavy maintenance checks, structural repairs, modifications, and retrofit services for aircraft, including the Airbus A350, Boeing 777, and Boeing 787.

It features a two-hangar facility that can accommodate up to six concurrent aircraft maintenance checks. It also supports widebody and narrowbody aircraft, including next-generation models.

The base obtained regulatory approval for the first of its two hangars and completed its first Airbus A350 aircraft maintenance check in November 2025.

SIAEC said the new site forms part of its regional MRO network alongside its operations in Singapore and the Philippines.

“We see strong potential in Malaysia’s aerospace sector, particularly in talent development, technical capability and long-term industry growth,” said SIAEC CEO Chin Yau Seng.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
