ST Engineering AirX secures ferry partners in Asia for AirFish rollout
Their first passenger services are set the second half of 2026.
ST Engineering AirX has secured ferry operator leasing partners in Southeast Asia and India to validate the commercial deployment of its AirFish Wing-in-Ground craft, with first passenger services planned from the second half of 2026, according to a press release.
The joint venture under ST Engineering’s Commercial Aerospace business said the agreements move the AirFish platform closer to revenue service, ahead of expected classification by Bureau Veritas by mid-2026, which would clear the craft for commercial operations.
In Southeast Asia, regional ferry operator BatamFast will lease and operate a single 10-seat AirFish Voyager on the Singapore–Batam route, which the partners said would be the first commercial AirFish service globally, with discussions under way to extend services to other destinations in the region.
In India, Wings Over Water Ferries plans to lease and operate up to four AirFish Voyager craft from late 2026, targeting high-demand coastal regions including Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, positioning the market as a larger-scale expansion opportunity, according to ST Engineering AirX.
The AirFish Voyager operates a few metres above the water surface using aerodynamic ground effect and does not require runway-style infrastructure, allowing faster inter-island and regional connections compared with conventional ferries, the company said.
