Certis wins at Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards 2025

The company builds a safer, smarter, and better workplace through holistic wellness and safety initiatives.

Certis has won Health & Wellness Initiative of the Year - Security in the Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards 2025.

At Certis, employee well-being and safety form the foundation of its operations. The company established a holistic framework that integrates mental, physical, and psychological wellness into everyday work practices across its global operations. This approach ensures that every employee feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

A key pillar of this framework is the Peer Support Leader Programme, developed in collaboration with the Health Promotion Board. Over 200 leaders worldwide were trained under this programme to offer emotional and psychological support to colleagues. Using the HEART framework, which means Hold Space, Empathy, Active Listening, Resources, and Trust, these peer supporters foster a culture of openness and care. Programme ratings consistently exceed 4.8 out of 5.

In Australia, Certis introduced an additional initiative to strengthen mental wellness: a Psychosocial Safety Assessment conducted by an external consultant. This assessment helps identify and address workplace psychosocial hazards that may affect employees’ psychological health and safety.

On the physical safety front, Certis promotes its Life Saving Rules & Safety Culture across its global operations, guided by the CARS steps (Check, Adhere, Report, and Stop) to instil safe habits and prevent incidents. The company also launched the ‘Certis 5’ Initial Injury Response Program, which equips managers to respond effectively within the first 5 minutes, 5 hours, and 5 days following a workplace injury. These measures have strengthened care and recovery outcomes for employees.

The impact of these initiatives is clear: Certis has achieved a more than 46% year-on-year reduction in Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate. More importantly, the company has cultivated a culture where wellness is a shared responsibility—employees feel safe to speak up, supported by leaders, and empowered to care for one another.

“At Certis, health and wellness is not just what we do—it’s how we build a Safer, Smarter, and Better workplace for all,” said Dr Jaclyn Lee, Certis’ Chief Human Resources Officer.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
