CGS International Securities Singapore bags win at SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025

UP, its new generation trading platform, lowers barriers to investing and encourages new investors to approach investing in a safe and responsible manner.

Integrated financial services provider CGS International Securities Singapore was recognised as the winner of the Fintech - Brokerage category in the coveted SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025 for its latest trading app, UP, which democratises investing in capital markets.

UP is the first to offer fractional share trading in the first Southeast Asian market, Bursa Malaysia, in addition to US stocks. UP offers an intuitive, easy-to-use interface built for beginner traders. Users can execute trades in the Singapore, Malaysia, and US markets, monitor market trends, and manage their portfolios with ease. It lowers the barrier to entry and encourages broader capital market participation. Investors can diversify easily into multiple stocks and build a more balanced and resilient portfolio.

Its unique automated structure for share allocation to clients and internal warehousing enables it to manage the inventory of whole shares, ensuring efficient processing of fractional share transactions in markets where it is allowed.

At the same time, the app offers a regular share savings plan, SaveUP, which enables users to invest and grow their wealth steadily through regular investments. It allows users to set a goal or choose a stock to invest in at their desired frequency. Clients can place orders in dollar amounts instead of the usual order by quantity (i.e. $1 instead of 100 shares) because of the system’s auto conversion capability. This means that they can invest exactly how much they want to. This increases the affordability of investing and encourages investors to embrace disciplined investing and sustainable wealth accumulation from the start.

UP’s ‘Discover’ function also lets users access CGS International’s award-winning insights and educational content in bite-sized infographics. This curated content helps relieve the stress often associated with learning about investing, making financial education more accessible to beginners. It enables clients to be well-equipped with knowledge from a reliable and reputable source, giving them the confidence to leap into their first investment.

Looking ahead, the platform can be offered as an Investment-as-a-Service solution for partners. This white label offering allows partners to leverage the platform’s capabilities under their branding. It will also help them provide their clients with a high-quality trading experience without investing too much time or money into developing their own systems and technology.

CGS International also aims to expand this platform to other ASEAN markets, making investing in capital markets more accessible to the masses. UP was also recently launched in Malaysia during the ASEAN Investment Conference 2025, held in Kuala Lumpur.

The SBR Technology Excellence Awards celebrates technological innovations in Singapore, highlighting exceptional companies that ride the digital disruption wave with groundbreaking technology initiatives which have made an impact on the economy.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
