ComfortDelGro Driving Centre recognised at Singapore Business Review National Business Awards 2026

Its Driver Development Tool has shaped safer drivers and contributed to a safer, more efficient transport ecosystem.

Training institute ComfortDelGro Driving Centre (CDC) won the Training & Development category at the Singapore Business Review National Business Awards 2026 for its Driver Development Tool (DDT) that has enhanced driving competence, strengthened road safety habits, and reduced operational risks for organisations.

DDT is an advanced, technology-enabled driver assessment and training system developed in-house to address longstanding challenges in the field of driver competency evaluation. It provides an objective and comprehensive method of evaluating a driver’s performance across diverse driving conditions by integrating telematics, high definition video capture, G force analysis, and GPS tracking into a single portable unit.

One of its key strengths is its ability to combine quantitative data with visual evidence to support objective assessment. Trainers can mark driving infringements in real time through an integrated tablet interface, with each annotation synchronised to precise timestamps and GPS coordinates.

Multi-angle camera recordings then allow for immediate playback and review of specific incidents, such as failure to perform blind spot checks, unsafe cornering, harsh braking, or inadequate following distances. This enables a systematic and evidence-based debriefing process that enhances the accuracy, consistency, and educational value of driver training.

At the same time, the tool employs a robust telematics-driven scoring system that measures performance in key areas, including acceleration, braking, and cornering. It allows companies to better manage driver performance, reduce accident risks, and strengthen their overall safety culture.

Since its launch in 2020, DDT has been integrated into CDC’s Defensive Driving Courses, helping to assess and train over 4,650 drivers across more than 50 public and private organisations that span sectors such as utilities, logistics, and government. In adopting DDT, organisations have been able to better identify behavioural gaps, apply targeted interventions, and substantially improve the driving performance of their workforce.

Looking ahead, CDC has set out a comprehensive development roadmap that incorporates wireless connectivity and artificial intelligence to automate the detection of blind spot checks, scanning behaviours, and steering control.

A lighter, mobile app–based version is also being developed to improve scalability and accessibility. With support from Enterprise Singapore, DDT is well-positioned for regional expansion as a benchmark solution for intelligent driver assessment and mobility safety.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
