Grundfos (Singapore) Pte Ltd wins at Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Awards 2026

The company implemented an intelligent distributed pumping system at Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

Grundfos (Singapore) Pte Ltd won Emerging Technology - Manufacturing in the Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Awards 2026. The company deployed a distributed pumping system at Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur to re-engineer chilled water operations through sensor-driven control.

The project upgraded the primary chilled water pumps with Grundfos TPE pumps. These units feature IE5 ultra-high efficiency motors. The installation also included 44 distributed secondary pumps, such as MAGNA3 and CRE intelligent pumps, across air handling units and fan coil units. This architecture replaced a conventional centralised pumping approach with a demand-driven system.

By matching flow to real-time cooling demand, the system eliminated hydraulic inefficiencies whilst maintaining strict temperature and humidity control for nine operating theatres. The setup utilised a three-temperature sensor control strategy. This precisely modulated pump speeds and protected chiller performance in a non-manifold configuration.

The implementation improved the chiller temperature differential and ensured stable conditions across critical care spaces. It addressed low Delta-T syndrome and enhanced part-load performance without disrupting 24/7 clinical operations. This project demonstrated how pumping intelligence modernises mission-critical infrastructure.

Data from the project showed pumping energy savings of up to 30.7 kW. This represents approximately 43% of energy savings for the facility. Furthermore, the system reduced carbon emissions by 208,150kg CO₂ per year.

The Senior Manager of Facility Management at the hospital noted that these measurable efficiencies occurred without compromising critical hospital operations. Grundfos worked closely with the healthcare provider to ensure the distributed pumping system met all environmental goals and healthcare HVAC requirements.

Beyond this project, the award underscores Grundfos’ commitment to innovation across the region. By integrating strong application expertise with intelligent pumping solutions and advanced control strategies, Grundfos continues to deliver scalable, energy‑efficient solutions that address complex cooling challenges while supporting broader sustainability ambitions.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
