Workiva Singapore transforms ESG reporting with comprehensive solution

It brought home the ESG Tech - IT Services category win in the sought-after SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025.

As regulatory reporting requirements evolve, it is critical and urgent for organisations worldwide to navigate through mandates and provide timely and accurate financial and non-financial reports in the most efficient and effective manner.

This has prompted software development company Workiva Singapore to help many organisations by empowering them with a cloud-based reporting solution to efficiently prepare and produce sustainability reports that not only streamline their reporting process but also ensure full compliance with regulatory standards with trusted data.

Amongst the companies that Workiva has assisted is the insurance firm Great Eastern Life (GEL). The latter’s sustainability team, design team, and other key stakeholders have leveraged the Workiva platform to collaborate in real time, accelerating the entire reporting process.

What used to be a manual reporting process has been replaced with a seamless solution that sees data submission across multiple sustainability topics, culminating in the efficient generation of detailed sustainability reports.

At the same time, Workiva’s cutting-edge technology accommodates last-minute data changes with ease whilst maintaining a complete audit trail, ensuring an up-to-date sustainability report that accurately reflects all the latest information.

Its platform also acts as a single source of truth with an organised repository for all supporting documents related to the collected data, featuring an integrated data trail that ensures transparency and accountability throughout the reporting process.

The platform’s intuitive interface is widely embraced by GEL’s data providers and reviewers across both individual entities and countries, enabling swift and widespread adoption throughout the organisation.

Feedback from the insurance firm has been overwhelmingly positive with high satisfaction and adoption, powered by a seamless project implementation journey and exceptional post-launch support.

“Workiva’s ability to offer customised access to auditors is a plus, as auditors can conduct their audit independently—taking away manual resources typically needed to support the audit process in the usual fashion. This is on top of Workiva’s hygiene function of being able to keep version controls and standardised records. External assurance is a requirement and any optimisation of a standardised process is a benefit to the users,” said GEL SVP of Sustainability Winnie Tan.

Such a pivotal solution has fostered real-time collaboration amongst internal teams and external stakeholders in a controlled, risk-free environment, reducing redundancy and ensuring time efficiency. This has earned the recognition of the coveted SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025, where Workiva bagged the ESG Tech - IT Services category win.

The company’s dynamic flexibility is appreciated by GEL as the team looks to further optimise the ESG solution in the next two years, with new functionalities and use cases to be rolled out over time.

“Compared to other similar platforms, Workiva is easy to use and very intuitive. It cuts down training time and is easy to navigate and get used to. This is exceptionally important as we have colleagues across different places and frequent personnel changes as people get on or off due to role change,” Tan added.

The prestigious awards programme celebrates technological innovations in Singapore, highlighting exceptional companies that are riding the digital disruption wave with groundbreaking technology initiatives that have made an impact on the economy.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
