CapitaLand acquires JCube for $340m

The transaction will be completed within the first quarter of 2022.

CapitaLand Development has entered into a sale and purchase agreement to acquire JCube for $340m on 24 January.

JCube is located in the commercial core of Jurong Lake District, Jurong Gateway. It was envisioned by the Urban Redevelopment Authority to be Singapore's largest business district outside of the central business district and key anchor for the country's economic gateway in the west. JCube enjoys good connectivity to the Jurong East MRT interchange station, which serves as the existing North-South and East-West lines and the upcoming Jurong Region Line. The mall is also next to the future Jurong integrated transport hub, which will comprise community and civic institutions and a bus interchange.

Upon completion of the acquisition, CapitaLand Retail Management will continue to operate JCube whilst it explores options to reposition or redevelop the mall in line with the gradual transformation of Jurong Lake District.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
