Vietnam gets the jitters with another negative trade balance

Inflation also rose 7.08%.

According to OCBC, CPI rose 7.08% yoy (+0.47% mom) in Nov, while trade balance stayed negative for the second straight month in Nov, with exports climbing 15.20% yoy (+3.54% mom) to US$10.20b and imports rising 8.80% yoy (-1.44% mom) to US$10.25b.

Starting 2013, the country’s top officials (including the president, prime minister and cabinet members) will have to win an annual confidence vote by the lawmakers in order to remain in office.

The SBV said that non-performing loans in Vietnam banks totaled 8.82% at the end of Sept, a substantially high figure when compared to the 3.07% figure reported at the end of 2011.
