Huawei, Keppel to boost solar and BESS adoption in Asia

They will develop energy technologies for specific projects.

Huawei International Pte. Ltd. and Keppel Ltd.’s infrastructure division are collaborating to promote the wide adoption of photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) technologies in Asia and other key markets.

In a joint statement, the parties said they will explore designing and developing new PV and BESS solutions tailored for identified projects. This will include interconnected power grids across the ASEAN region, low-carbon data centres and industrial parks, and digital energy management for hybrid energy systems.

This aims to reduce the carbon intensity of the identified projects, improve operational stability, optimise lifecycle costs and improve economic performance.

Once operational, they will be connected to Keppel’s Operations Nerve Centre (ONC) at Keppel Infrastructure in Changi in Singapore for real-time monitoring and optimisation.

The companies are also collaborating on a demand response programme using a BESS developed at Keppel Infrastructure in Changi.

Beyond Singapore, Huawei and Keppel aim to co-develop go-to-market strategies and roll out renewable energy solutions in targeted regions.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
