SG, AU to fund eight maritime decarbonisation projects
A $20m joint initiative will support the selected projects.
Australia and Singapore will fund eight projects under a $20m joint initiative to reduce emissions in the maritime sector.
The projects were selected from 32 applications submitted by universities, research institutes, and industry players from both countries.
Launched in July 2024, the Australia-Singapore Initiative on Low Emissions Technologies (ASLET) aims to accelerate the deployment of zero or near-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emission technologies for maritime and port operations.
It is jointly delivered by Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
The selected projects focus on innovations in hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol supply, transport, storage, and dispensing, as well as maritime utilisation, safety and environmental monitoring, and electrification.
They have also attracted co-contributions and are expected to be completed within two years.
ASLET also supports the Singapore-Australia Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC) in advancing the decarbonisation and digitisation of shipping routes between both countries.
